Drink the Rainbow: Wine Beyond Red & White

"Are you a red wine person, or a white wine person?" There are so many colors that wine can be besides pale straw and inky purple! Summer barbecue season is the perfect excuse to explore wines that play on the edge of different styles, whether skin-macerated oranges, dark rosé, co-ferments of red & white grapes, or varieties that are actually pink on the vine. We'll learn the how and why behind wine color, and discover whole new worlds of flavor and texture.

Wednesday, August 21, 6:30pm Instructor: Theo Lieberman

Wine Made by Sommeliers

Being a Sommelier is one of the greatest jobs in the world. But what happens when your knees start to ache and you are tired of working on Christmas? Seemingly, you go and make wine. In this class we will explore why winemaking is becoming the next exciting career step and how years of tasting and talking with guests help to shape the wine that people want to drink.

Tuesday, August 27, 6:30pm Instructor: James Sligh

Galicia: Wines of Green Spain

From fresh, salty albariño to juicy, herbal mencía to the even more obscure brancellao, merenzao, godello, and caino tinto, Spain's verdant northwest might be my favorite place to drink in the entire country. Vines catch sea spray from the Atlantic on the coasts, or climb up Roman-era slate terraces plunging into river valleys. Still very under the radar, this is a new side of Spanish wine well worth getting to know if you don't know it, and worth diving deeper into if you do. #underratedwineregions
